Ask the 180 Coach

A coaching assistant for parents

The 180 Coach is a chat assistant built on the Bold180 Framework. It’s designed to help parents find the right words for hard conversations with their kids.

It’s live and free. Tell it what’s going on and get calm, practical words you can use tonight.

🔒 Private by design. No account. No names needed. Your conversation isn’t saved on our site, and no one at Bold180 can read it. Describe the situation in your own words; “my 14-year-old” is all the coach needs.

What a conversation might look like

An example to show the idea. Your conversation will be shaped by your family’s situation.

Parent
My 14-year-old used to tell me everything. Now he just says “fine” and goes to his room. I don’t know how to reach him.

180 Coach
That shift is really common around 14, and it usually isn’t about you. It often means he’s working out who he is. Pushing harder with questions can make kids pull back further. Instead, try being available without pressure: sit with him while he does something he enjoys, or offer a drive somewhere. Side-by-side time often feels safer than face-to-face questions.

Parent
What should I actually say?

180 Coach
Try one low-pressure question, like: “What’s something that made you laugh this week?” If he opens up, listen and thank him. Hold back advice for now. If he doesn’t, that’s okay. Try again next week. You could also let him know: “You can always tell me anything, even if you think I’ll be upset. I’d rather know.” Would you like help choosing this week’s Family Check-in question?

What it helps you do

  • Talk through what’s happening at home and get calm, practical next steps
  • Plan how to start a difficult conversation
  • Choose a weekly Family Check-in question that fits your child
  • Review what you want to say before you say it, so it comes out the way you mean it

Built for parents, not for kids

The 180 Coach is for parents only. Your child never chats with it. Teens talk to you, because the goal is a stronger connection between you and your child, not between your child and a machine.

What it is not

  • It is not a therapist, doctor, or counselor, and it does not diagnose anything.
  • It is not for emergencies. If your child is in danger, call 911. If your child is in crisis, call or text 988.
  • It does not replace your judgment. You know your child best.

Our commitments to you

  • Privacy first: we collect only what we need, and we never sell your information.
  • You stay in control: there are no accounts, and we don’t save your conversations on our site. They’re gone when you leave the page.
  • Safety built in: if a conversation suggests someone may be at risk, the 180 Coach points you to real help right away.
  • Human-reviewed guidance: the assistant is grounded in the Bold180 Framework, and we regularly test how it responds against a set of safety cases.
